Crestlink
Crestlink’s mission is to responsibly acquire, develop and operate strategically located infrastructure in partnership with, the Dambeemangaddee people unlocking new logistics capability in Northern Australia.
Crestlink is here to support big goals, while caring for the marine ecosystems and communities of this remote part of the world.
Cockatoo Island
Cockatoo Island assets include existing aviation infrastructure, with a 1,060 metre CASA-compliant aerodrome. It is a fully permitted asset with Crown Lease tenure that provides a clear pathway for future development of aerodrome, port and supporting infrastructure. Through its subsidiary Buccaneer Resources, Crestlink also holds the adjacent mining tenement, strengthening its long-term potential as a multi-user logistics base. Future development at Cockatoo Island will be progressed to complement Koolan Island, strengthening Crestlink’s broader regional logistics strategy.
Koolan Island
Crestlink has entered a binding agreement with MGX Resources Limited (MGX) – formerly named Mount Gibson Iron Limited – to acquire MGX’s subsidiary entities which own the Koolan Island tenements, infrastructure and certain assets in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, with completion expected in late 2026.
Koolan Island hosts world-class infrastructure including a deep-water port (~17m depth), a CASA-compliant 2.1km aerodrome commissioned in 2020, and established accommodation and support facilities comprising approximately 300 rooms and a 150-person cyclone shelter.

Asset Capabilities
Koolan Island’s existing infrastructure, together with Cockatoo Island’s fully permitted development pathway, creates a unique capability for integrated aviation and marine logistics unrivalled in North West Australia.
The offshore basins of Australia’s vast North West region are far from established infrastructure and existing supply chains for oil and gas and defence operations are among the longest in the world.
Helicopter transit times to offshore facilities are among the longest flights in the industry globally.
With the closest alternative airfield to the Browse Basin and proximity to key maritime corridors, Crestlink’s assets are uniquely positioned to support oil and gas, government and defence-related operations for faster crew movements, improved logistics responsiveness and better support for time-critical offshore operations to achieve lower operational and fleet costs and downtime.
Our assets can provide a significant reduction to Search and Rescue response times (from approximately 5hrs to 3hrs in the North West. The shorter helicopter transit times also improves response times during higher risk and weather events and can provide sheltered mooring conditions in Yampi Sound.
Crestlink’s combined asset base is suited to a multi-user model that can support offshore energy, mining, government, defence-related, border security, local communities and other regional users. This creates flexibility to serve a range of users from a strategically located base in the Kimberley, maximising the value of shared infrastructure over time.
Australia’s North West requires strong capability to protect national borders, safeguard critical offshore infrastructure and support operations across a vast and strategically important coastline.
The integrated aerodrome and marine capabilities are ideally located to improve defence resilience in Northern Australia providing the capability to refuel, cargo, and crew change Australia’s and Allies Naval assets and Borderforce in a secure, deep-water location.
Crestlink’s assets will support regional economic activity across the Kimberley, including Broome and Derby, by improving access, strengthening supply chains and enabling more efficient movement of people, goods and services. This can create opportunities for local businesses, support employment and contribute to more reliable regional operations over time.
In partnership with Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation, Crestlink’s activities also support the protection of country and the long-term care of land and sea, helping preserve culture, heritage and community connection across the region.
The location of Cockatoo and Koolan Islands can enable more efficient supply chains, reducing air and marine fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions.
